Caitlin shares her Y story: The YMCA has been so much more that a gym for me. When I began my journey toward sobriety 5 years ago, I knew I needed a healthy outlet. Something consistent, positive and grounding. The YMCA became that place. It gave me structure when everything else felt uncertain. Whether I was lifting weights, running laps or just showing up on days I wanted to quit, the Y became a space where I could focus on healing – physically, mentally and emotionally. Little by little, it helped me rebuild my confidence and sense of self. Every time I walked through those doors, I was reminded that I was choosing a better path. But what has meant even more to me is the way it brought my family closer. My spouse and I started training together at the Y. We signed up for 5Ks and shared our journey side by side. It became more than exercise, it became quality time, connection, and something we could grow around. Even more inspiring, was watching our kids get involved in youth sports and activities through the Y. Now, our children are learning the same values of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance just by being part of this incredible journey. I am deeply grateful for the people, programs and spirit of the Y.has made a lasting impact on our lives.
